Hello Kitty Crochet wins 2015 Family Choice Awards

It’s been too long everyone…Happy New Year! How has everyone been??

I’ve been really looking forward to 2015, hoping that it will bring about some fun changes to my personal life. Work has been busier than usual, so I do apologise for my absence here!

I hope to be able to share more patterns and videos this year. In the next couple of weeks, I hope to share more information on an upcoming workshop as well! Please stay tuned 🙂

In the mean time, I’d like to share some great news: my book, Hello Kitty Crochet, has just won the 2015 Family Choice Awards! やった!

Here’s my shameless snapshot of the win!

Now, the Family Choice Awards recognise the best in children’s and parenting products. Now in its 19th year, the awards programme is one of the most coveted, family-friendly consumer award programs in the United States! What’s more, bestselling author Nicholas Sparks won in 2013…to be put alongside the ranks of Nicholas Sparks…(I suppose I can daydream a little, can’t I?)…I can’t help but say what a great honour that is.

If you had asked me three years ago, I would’ve had no idea that I would be publishing a book, much less winning an award for it! Thank you, thank you to everyone who have supported me thus far and for those who have been relentless in giving me your love!

I hope to be able to do more to share the amigurumi love. Please wait for more great things to come!

It has been a good four months since amiguruMEI first came on the WWW.

Recently our kind readers have nominated us for not one, but three fun blogger awards.

We were lucky enough to be selected for the Reader Appreciation Award by Craftgirl78 and Millie on her World, who both share wonderful amigurumi-related work on their blogs. Thank you so much for thinking of us here at amiguruMEI!

Millie on her World has also given us the Sunshine Blogger Award and the One Lovely Blog Award, together with Misty of Crochet in a Box, a mother-of-two who is great with nifty crochet work. Thank you, thank you for inspiring amiguruMEI to keep on striving for the best kawaii amigurumi craft work possible!

The rules of accepting the Reader Appreciation Award are:

  • Copy the award logo (above) to your site.
  • Publish a post nominating six of your favourite blogs (do include the links).
  • Let your nominees know that you chose them!

Now, 7 more facts about Meimoirs of amiguruMEI:

  1. She is an Instagram addict, who likes taking her pictures with sunlight streaming through the windows.
  2. She enjoys making videos of other types of crafts, and would post a new one up every 2 weeks (links available on the right).
  3. She is currently reading The Complete Adventures of The Borrowers by Mary Norton, in hopes of learning more about Arrietty, who appeared in Studio Ghibli’s Karigurashi (The Borrower Arriety).
  4. She is currently taking Japanese lessons. She hopes to revisit Tokyo, Japan one day soon, and watch all her favourite animes without the help of English subtitles.
  5. She is a big fan of Dexter and Fringe, but was sorely disappointed by the latter’s latest season developments.
  6. She has tried playing The Legend of Zelda theme via the Ocarina iPad app by Smule. A visually funny attempt, to say the least.
  7. She recently needle-felted her own Totoro book bag and was happy for weeks after.

Thank you once again to all our friendly readers for believing in us!

These are stuff dreams are made of. AmiguruMEI has just received its first Liebster Blog Award from Sharon of Homemade Obsessions! Thank you so much for including us in your selection!

Liebster is a German word that simply means favourite, dearest or beloved. The Liebster Blog Award is passed on from one blogger to the next, and is usually bestowed upon those with inspiring content on their page, but have fewer than 200 followers. The Award’s purpose is to help spread the word for newer bloggers, which would help them gain wider recognition in the long run.

In accepting the award, the blogger should:

  1. Choose five up-and-coming blogs (with fewer than 200 followers) to award the Liebster to.
  2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  3. Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites. Leave comments on their blogs so they know about the award.
  4. Share five random facts about yourself that people don’t know about you.

After due consideration, Meimoirs have found five awesome personalities that are much deserving of the Award. They are:

Please visit their awe-inspiring blogs! And now here are five random nuggets about Meimoirs, as promised!

1) She enjoys watching the Studio Ghibli collection of animes over and over again, and have done so many times in the three different languages that they’re available in: Japanese, English and Chinese.

2) She is a fan of the Monkey Island and Legend of Zelda series of games. She once also spent hours building dream houses for her Sims in The Sims, as well as malfunctioning theme park rides (Rollercoaster Tycoon) and fruit-based pizzas in Pizza Connection.

3) As a child, she gave each of her Barbie dolls a first, middle and last name and recorded them all down on a piece of paper. She is guilty of having renamed the Pocahontas doll to Joan, simply because she looks more like a “Joan”.

4) She dreams of one day visiting the Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, the Little Prince Museum in Hakone and the Moomin Cafe in Fukuoka, Japan. Her obsession with the Japanese culture (although the Little Prince is really French) has now moved on to encompass the weird-cute Anpanman!

5) She has successfully mastered the art of cooking Kung Pow Chicken and Japanese curry, and would rotate between the two recipes whenever she volunteers to make dinner (Uh oh!).

These facts serve as an introduction to the whimsies Meimoirs have in store for you. More will be channeled onto amiguruMEI soon enough!
